<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a laser probe whose cross section has a narrow diameter while efficiently emitting light from side surfaces of the laser probe, to be manufactured at a low cost. <P>SOLUTION: The laser probe 1 has an distal end part in which a fist tapered face 3 with a first angle θ<SB>1</SB>and a second tapered face 9 with a second angle θ<SB>2</SB>smaller than the first angle, junctually provided to the first tapered face 3, are formed in order from the distal end side; and a reflection coating layer 5 for reflecting guided laser beams is disposed on the first tapered face 3. Accordingly, as part of the guided laser beams is emitted from the second tapered face and other part is reflected on the first tapered face, then emitted from the second tapered face, the laser beams can be radiated efficiently from side surfaces. Further, as an optical fiber itself can be made to have the function, the diameter of the cross section can be narrowed, and as it is not necessary to procure a chip for coating the probe, the probe can be manufactured at a low cost. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
