<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an elevator device capable of being efficiently sterilized. <P>SOLUTION: In the elevator having a ventilating device for performing ventilation in an elevator car, an ionizer is disposed in the elevator car, and the ventilating device is interlocked with the ionizer. In an operation method, there are a plurality of operation modes. Presence or absence of a passenger in the car is determined by a passenger detecting device. When the passenger exists, a suitable operating mode is selected based on the temperature detected by an in-car temperature detecting device.
