<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a brake controller for an elevator capable of achieving reductions in electric-power capacity, cost and size and contribution to energy saving. <P>SOLUTION: This brake controller for the elevator includes a spring device which always presses brake shoes 8A, 9A against a brake drum 6 of the elevator to produce braking force and a plurality of electromagnets 8, 9 which separate the brake shoe from the brake drum against the spring device to release the braking force at the time of energization. With this constitution, each of the electromagnets are classified into two or more control groups, and braking force is released at a different timing for each of the control groups. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
