The process involves classifying certain N neighboring cells (14, 15, 16) of lists associated to each of server cells (13a, 13b) and to each neighboring cell of the list associated to a server cell, according to a counting criteria, where N is whole positive. At most N neighboring cells of the server cells are selected from the classified neighboring cells. The selection constitutes a reduced list of the at most N neighboring cells. An independent claim is also included for a device for processing lists of neighboring cells for a cellular radio communication system.
