<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To apply a jog dial input device to portable equipment with a compact display. <P>SOLUTION: This jog dial input device 10 is configured so that a cylindrical jog dial part 11 having a first rotational quantity detector and a push operation detecting part can be installed so as to be rotatable at the upper part of a frame 21, and that the frame 21 can be formed so as to be turned by a shaft 27 in a direction orthogonal to the shaft 13 of a jog dial 12. The input device 10 is installed so as to be turned at the upper right corner part of a portable telephone set or the like by the shaft 27. The frame 21 is provided with a second rotary amount detector which detects the rotary amounts of the frame 21. The portable equipment having the input device 10 is configured so that the Y axial position of a cursor on the display can be set by rotating the jog dial 12 with one finger gripping the equipment, and that the X axial position of the cursor can be set by turning(sliding) the jog dial 12 with the shaft 27 as a center, and that the X/Y setting positions can be inputted by pushing the jog dial 12. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
