<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing plate material excellent in on-press developability and plate wear resistance, and a printing method. <P>SOLUTION: The printing plate material, having a hydrophilic layer and an image forming function layer on one side of a plastic support and a backcoat layer on the other, keeps a roll form, where the backcoat layer contains a mat agent.
