<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To determine data received from a scanner as an error at the time of receiving of the data when the data of add-on bar code has not been read even though the data is bar code data with the add-on bar code. <P>SOLUTION: When receiving the bar code data from a bar code scanner, a merchandise sales data processing apparatus identifies whether the bar code data is one from a main bar code itself including a merchandise identification code or one from a bar code which is formed by adding the add-on bar code to the main bar code by data of a prescribed digit of the main bar code. If it is identified that the bar code data is one from the bar code which is formed by adding the add-on bar code to the main bar code, the apparatus determines whether or not the bar code data includes the bar code of the add-on bar code, and if the apparatus determines that the bar code data does not include the bar code of the add-on bar code, the apparatus determines the bar code data as the error. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
