PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a means for precisely and easily detecting Streptococcus thermophilus.

SOLUTION: A cell line which is deposited as Accession No. FERM P-19601 and produces a monoclonal antibody to the Streptococcus thermophilus. And to the monoclonal antibody, produced by the cell line and reacts with the Streptococcus thermophilus and substantially not cross reacts with bacteria belonging to the other Streptococcus, Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium. The invention also relates to the detecting reagent containing the monoclonal antibodies, and to the method immunologically detecting the Streptococcus thermophilus which uses the detecting reagent.
