<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing apparatus and a method thereof capable of suitably expressing gray scale images such as warm black tone and cold black tone by referencing a one-dimensional LUT in response to a user's instruction among a plurality of one-dimensional LUTs. <P>SOLUTION: The image processing apparatus stores the plurality of lookup tables 40 to 42 used for toning processing of the gray scale images and receives a user's toning instruction to a received gray scale image. The image processing apparatus selects one lookup table among the stored tables on the basis of the toning instruction and references the lookup table to apply toning to the gray scale image. Then the image processing apparatus outputs the gray scale image subjected to the toning to a recording apparatus for recording the resulting image to a recording medium. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
