<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming device capable of stably and automatically distinguishing various kinds of recording papers and detecting a tip position of the recording paper precisely while improving usability and cost performance to set process conditions for various recording papers automatically and control a tip blank precisely. <P>SOLUTION: This image forming device is provided with a light irradiation means for irradiating light on a surface of recording paper, and a reading means for reading the inside of a light irradiation region on the surface of recording paper by the light irradiation means and outputting it as image.
