<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide technologies enabling improvement of performance such as improvement of the precision of authentication and reduction of the authentication time without increasing the time and efforts of a user. <P>SOLUTION: An image near an iris is taken simultaneously or continuously after taking of the image of the iris, and the authentication is performed using the obtained information other than iris information. For example, the distance d2 between an eyebrow and an eye, the vertical distance d3 from the center of the pupil to under the nose, the horizontal distance d4 from the center of the pupil to the center of the nose, or the positional relation between the parts can be used as the information other than the iris information. If the information is previously registered, the information can be collated in the authentication. Further, such information as the shape of the eye in the image, the state of eyelashes, the shape of blood vessels in the white of the eyeball, the shape of the eyebrow, the shape of the nose, the shape of part of the nose, and the position of a mole is used for the biological detection. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
