<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an image normalization apparatus and an image normalization program capable of generating a fixed image independent of illumination conditions by removing shadows from an image photographed under an optional illumination condition and capable of improving the recognition accuracy for object. <P>SOLUTION: The image normalization apparatus is provided with an image preprocessing part 11 for outputting an image obtained by increasing the contrast of an area whose luminance is low in an inputted image, a feature value calculation part 12 for calculating the feature value of the image from the image outputted from the image preprocessing part 11, a feature value adjusting part 13 for adjusting the feature value so that the feature value of the image calculated by the feature value calculation part 12 becomes right-left symmetrical, and an image generation part 14 for generating an image by the reverse operation of calculation in the feature value calculation part 12 from the feature value of the image which is adjusted by the feature value adjusting part 13. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
