摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ion exchange apparatus the regenerating time of which is shortened so that the amount of the waste water to be discharged from the ion exchange apparatus is lessened and the regeneration efficiency of which is made high. <P>SOLUTION: This ion exchange apparatus is constituted so that treated water is obtained by making raw water W1 pass through an ion exchange column 1 by a descending flow and ion exchange resins in the ion exchange column are regenerated by making a liquid chemical being a regenerating agent pass through the ion exchange column by a ascending flow. A liquid-permeable upper partition plate 2 and a liquid-permeable lower partition plate 3 are arranged in the ion exchange column 1 for dividing the ion exchange column vertically into three chambers. The ion exchange column has a layer A1 of a first strong ion exchange resin packed in a lower chamber 4c so that a fixed bed is formed, a layer B of a weak ion exchange resin packed in a middle chamber 4b so that a fluidized bed is formed by the ascending flow and a layer A2 of a second strong ion exchange resin packed in an upper chamber 4a so that the fluidized bed is formed by the ascending flow.
