<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a photographic image processing device capable of simply performing high-speed image processing for sharpening an image while suppressing roughness thereof to the degree of bearing appreciation. <P>SOLUTION: The photographic image processing device comprises a face region detecting means for detecting a person's face region from original image data, a first sharpening means for applying first sharpening to the first region data including the detected face region, and a second sharpening means for applying second sharpening stronger than the first sharpening to region data except for at least the first region. The first sharpening means cuts out face region data from the original image data, and applies the first sharpening to the cut face region data. The second sharpening means applies the second sharpening to the original image data, and sticks the sharpened face region data by the first sharpening means to the image data having undergone the second sharpening. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI |
