A method of flushing a central heating system 10 having a heat exchanger 14 a pump 16, at least one radiator 22,24,26 and at least one circuit of pipe work 18,20, comprises the steps of: draining the central heating system of system water, connecting a magnetic filter 28 across two points in the at least one circuit of pipe work, partially filling the central heating system with system water, operating the boiler to produce heat and operating the pump 16 to cause circulation of system water around the central heating system and through the filter 28, applying vibration to the or each radiator 22,24,26, removing any debris collected at the filter, and re-filling the central heating system 10 with system water to an operational level. |
