<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel frequency hopping signal detecting apparatus which can perform certainly the supplement/detection of a frequency hopping signal in the case that the frequency hopping signal may be influenced by the variation of a receiving level by fading, interface jamming, and a propagation loss, or when it is applied to a communication system using alternatively a feeble radio wave, etc., and can respond also to the high speed frequency hopping communication easily; and to provide a radio wave monitoring system using the same. <P>SOLUTION: Even when the width of the change of the frequency of a frequency hopping signal includes a wideband, an incoming radio wave is received in a batch over the wideband, the frequency hopping signal included in the incoming radio wave is extracted by synchronizing the frequency hopping signal included in the incoming radio wave with the frequency hopping signal, from the degree of the coincidence (the degree of similarity) of the image data (pattern) of the incoming radio wave with the spectrogram image data (pattern) including the chip information of the frequency hopping signal held beforehand without switching the received frequency.
