<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a power backup unit and an electronic control device with the same, capable of attaining high reliability. <P>SOLUTION: This power backup unit includes an auxiliary power supply 3 for subsidiarily supplying electric power to an electronic control unit 2 if the output of a main power supply for supplying driving power to the electronic control unit 2 is not larger than its specified voltage and a diode 4 of which a cathode is connected to the electronic control unit 2 and an anode is connected to an auxiliary power supply 3 through a second switch. The auxiliary power supply 3 and the anode of the diode 4 are connected through a booster circuit 8.
