A traffic information updating method and device. The method comprises: identifying, by a terminal, a first traffic sign from a road image (101); detecting whether traffic information of the terminal comprises first prompt information corresponding to the first traffic sign (102); if the traffic information of the terminal does not comprise the first prompt information, then generating a traffic sign adding instruction corresponding to the first traffic sign (103); and transmitting the traffic sign adding instruction to a server (104). By using the terminal, content indication and location indication of a newly found traffic sign can be reported to a server upon discovery of the traffic sign, such that the server directly updates traffic information according to the information reported by the terminal, thus avoiding a waste of manpower and resources, and improving the timeliness of traffic information update of the server. |
