Emergency lighting system with at least 2 controllers, one for balancing the load between the controllers

An emergency system for providing an emergency function is provided. The system includes at least two controllers and a number of emergency devices, each for providing the emergency function. Each controller has a transmitter for providing a signal to the emergency devices for initiating a test operation of the devices. At least one of the controllers is also for balancing the system by forming a mesh network and for distributing the emergency devices so that there is a balance between the emergency devices which communicate with one of the controllers and the emergency devices which communicate with the other of the controllers.
