An apparatus for controlling overheating of an electric cooktop and a method thereof are provided to prevent damage of a control assembly due to indirect heat of a heater using a temperature sensor in the control assembly. An apparatus for controlling overheating of an electric cooktop includes a burner assembly, a control assembly(40), and a first temperature sensor(48a). The burner assembly is driven to constant temperature and time. The control assembly controls the burner assembly by receiving heating temperature or heating time of the burner assembly. The damage of the control assembly is prevented by indirect heat of the burner assembly. |
