<p>Cpds. :- (I) Y = S or SO R' = halogen of At.wt. 100, or opt. subst. Ph R2 = an opt. subst. (1-12 C) aliphatic, homocyclic or heterocyclic residue (including those contng. condensed Ph rings), or (Y = S) Q- - where Q = opt. subst. NH2, , alkoxy or an opt. subst. aliphatic residue X = O, S, NH or Nalkyl But if R' = opt. subst. Ph, R2 = an opt. subst. aliphatic residue. Microbicides i.e. fungicides, fungistats, bactericides, and bacteriostats, with some systemic activity. To 4,5-dichloro-1,2-dithiol-3-one (18.71 parts) in DMF (70 vols.) at -70 deg., 2-mercaptopyridine (22.23 parts) was added rapidly, without cooling. The temp. rose to ambient, and the product, crystallising out, was filtered off, washed, and dried, giving I,m.p. 148-149.5 deg. A second crop was obtd. by diluting the mother liquors with water. Yield 25.5 parts (97.4%).</p> |
