1303950 Seaming WALLACE EXPANDING MACHINES Inc 16 Nov 1971 [28 Dec 1970] 53211/71 Heading B3J [Also in Division B8] The out-turned flanges 37 and 72 of a rectan gular-section container body and an end panel are seamed together by mounting the body and panel on a rotary table assembly 110 by means of a support block 117, which locates in an inverted V-shaped recess 118 provided in the end panel, and rotating the table assembly whilst transversely advancing a plate 97 carrying a seaming wheel 100. The plate 97 is mounted for transverse movement on, and with respect to, a reciprocable slide 92. A cam 94 carried by the slide engages in a cam track 114, which is provided in the table assembly and which follows the general rectangular contour of the container body. Each end of the container body may be closed by a seamed-on end panel, the top panel being larger than the bottom panel to facilitate stacking, Figs. 7 and 8 (not shown). A concave recess extends in and around the intermediate portion of the container body, Fig. 1 (not shown). |
