A thermoplastic halogen containing polycarbonate of a dihydric phenol contains from 0À001 to 5% by weight of a nickel compound as a fire retarding agent. The nickel compound may be a salt of phthalic, isocaprylic, stearic, p-tert-butyl benzoic or naphthenic acid. The polycarbonate preferably contains 2-7% by weight of halogen if the halogen is chlorine and 1-5% by weight if it is bromine. The example describes the mixing of nickel (II) laurate with a copolycarbonate of bisphenol A and tetrachlorobisphenol A.</p> |
