<p>Ternary copolyamides, useful as textile adhesives, and contg. a random distribution of monomer units of polyamides-6; 12; -6, 9 or -6, 10 (i.e. 6/6, n/12 where n is 9 or 10) are prepd. by heating 25-80 wt.% epsilon-caprolactam and/or epsilon-aminocaproic acid or their homopolyamide(s), 10-65 wt.% hexamethylenediamine azelate or sebacate or a homopolymer of azelaic or sebacic acid and hexamethylenediamine and 10-65 wt.% laurolactam or its homopolyamide, for >8 hrs. to 250-300 degrees C, pref. in presence of org. carboxylic acids, esp. sebacic acid as chain control agent. Products have reduced water-absorption, giving an adhesive bond resistant to washing and dry-cleaning.</p> |
