THE PRESENT INVENTION RELATES TO A METHOD OF CONVERTING THE FRONT SCREEN OF A MULTI FOCAL-PLANE DISPLAY CONFIGURED WITH TWO OR MORE OPTICALLY OVERLAPPING SCREENS, FROM A MATT SURFACE TO AN OPTICALLY SMOOTH SURFACE. 1 ILLUSTRATES ONE EMBODIMENTS OF THE PRESENT INVENTION IMPLEMENTED WITH A DUAL SCREEN DISPLAY (1) COMPOSED OF A PLURALITY OF TRANSPARENT IMAGING SCREENS IN THE FORM OF A FRONT LCD SCREEN (2), PARALLEL TO, BUT SPACED APART FROM A REAR DISPLAY SCREEN (3) PROVIDED WITH A BACKLIGHT (4). THE MATT SURFACE TYPICALLY USED IN SUCH DISPLAY TECHNOLOGIES (FOR EXAMPLE LCD SCREENS) HAS AN OPTICALLY ROUGH OR IRREGULAR SURFACE, WHICH COMBINED WITH THE EFFECT OF DIFFERING REFRACTIVE INDEX BETWEEN THE SURFACE MATERIAL AND THE AMBIENT AIR CAUSES BOTH REFLECTED AND TRANSMITTED LIGHT TO SCATTER OR OTHERWISE BE DIFFUSED.
