1412644 Arrangements of hydraulic jacks N H AHLGREN 2 Oct 1972 [8 Oct 1971] 45419/72 Heading B8J [Also in Division E1] A bridge member 1 or other structure is slidably supported during horizontal displacement on supports 12 on the upper ends of a plurality of hydraulic jacks 2, the supports 12 being angularly adjustable relative to the jacks about at least two axes (e.g. by means of ball joints 5) and the jacks being hydraulically coupled in groups so that the weight of the member 1 is uniformly distributed in each group. The supports 12 may be rollers or a lowfriction slide. The member 1 is moved either by means of further jacks 9 connected to the supports 12 and acting on rods 13 linked to the member or by arranging the groups of jacks 2 at different heights so as to incline the member and allow it to slide under its own weight. The jacks 2 and 9 may have a common hydraulic source. |
