1413526 Developing electrostatic latent images ADDRESSOGRAPH MULTIGRAPH CORP 23 Oct 1972 [26 Oct 1971] 48796/72 Heading G2H [Also in Division B6] A lithographic printing plate is provided with an electrostatic latent image and developed with an emulsion, the dispersed component of which is attracted by the latent image area to convert it from oleophilic/hydrophobic to hydrophilic/ oleophobic. Printing is then carried out with a water base ink and an oil fountain. Alternatively the dispersed component of the emulsion may be repelled by the latent image, so that it converts the non-image areas. Preferably the printing plate contains zinc oxide, and is imaged electrophotographically. Suitable developers contain aqueous ferrocyanide or phosphate conversion fluids dispersed in hydrocarbons. |
