1353159 Slip casting CERAMIC ENG Ltd 23 Nov 1971 [4 Dec 1970] 57696/70 Heading B5A [Also in Division G3] Apparatus for controlling viscous fluid, e.g. for use in the pottery industry, comprises a control valve 4, Fig. 1, for controlling flow of casting slip from a supply manifold 1 to a feed manifold 2 and thereby the pressure of the fluid in the feed manifold. Thus the casting slip in the moulds is maintained at a low pressure so that the moulds remain full and do not fracture. The control valve 4, is a rotary ball valve and is adjusted by a pneumatic servomotor 5 receiving pressurized actuating air via a valve 8 regulated in accordance with the pressure in the manifold 2 by a relay valve 9. Movement of the servomotor in the opening direction of the control valve is damped by hydraulic means 6 comprising a piston (18), Fig. 3 (not shown), restricted orifice (21) and a dashpot (23). The servomotor comprises a pair of spring-biased opposed pistons 13, Fig. 2, having racks 14 engaging a common pinion 15 connected to the control valve.
|
