1303609 Folding tables ANONIMA CASTELLI S A S 23 June 1971 [23 July 1970] 29348/71 Heading A4H A folding table comprises a rectangular table top 1 supported by four independently foldable corner legs, each leg comprising a vertical corner stanchion 4 from the upper end of which integrally extends a first vertical bracket 5a extending along one side of the top defining said corner, a second vertical bracket 5b pivotable to the first bracket about a vertical first hinge axis y-y through 90 degrees and in the operative position extending along the other table top side defining said corner, said first bracket 5a being pivotable to an angle member 3 fixed at the table top corner about a horizontal second hinge axis x-x, said second hinge being spaced from the table top sufficiently so that the second bracket 5b can be pivoted through 90 degrees about the first hinge y-y so as to abut the first bracket 5a, and then both brackets 5a, 5b can be pivoted as a unit through 90 degrees about the second hinge x-x so as to lie substantially flat against the lower surface of the table top see Figs.2, 3, (not shown). The vertical first hinge y-y is formed by interlaced hinge members 7a, 7b, Figs.6, 7, (not shown), integral with respective first and second brackets 5a, 5b and connected by a pivot pin 10, said hinge members 7a, 7b having projecting parts 8a, 8b with vertical stop surfaces 9a, 9b that abut in the operative position. The second horizontal hinge x-x is formed by interlaced hinge members 15, 13 integral respectively with the first bracket 5a and angle member 3 and connected by a pivot pin 11, said hinge members 15, 13 having stop means 15a, 13a, see Fig.6 (not shown), that abut in the operative position. Second bracket 5b has a resilient upwardly extending tooth 17, see Fig.3 (not shown), that in the operative position is trapped in a constricted recess 16 in one arm of angle member 3, and in the folded position is engaged in a recess 14 in the other arm of member 3. The table top may comprise glass or plastics.
