1411884 Heating IC engine charge HONDA GIKEN KOGYO KK 10 Jan 1973 [12 Jan 1972] 1265/73 Heading F1B A four-stroke spark-ignition reciprocating I.C. engine, which includes, associated with the or each cylinder, a main combustion chamber and a precombustion chamber, provided with spark ignition means and communicating with the main combustion chamber through a flame passage, a metallic exhaust conduit communicating with the main combustion chamber, and a metallic auxiliary inlet conduit communicating with the pre-combustion chamber the said metallic conduits being integral with and alongside each other over at least a substantial part of their lengths so that in operation, combustible mixture in the auxiliary inlet conduit is heated by exhaust gases in the exhaust conduit. The main combustion chamber 4 is supplied with a lean air-fuel mixture by a two-barrel carburetter 9 and the auxiliary combustion chamber 7 is supplied with a rich air-fuel mixture by a carburetter 10, through a passage 8 which has a common wall over part of its length with an exhaust gas passage 13. The charge supplied to the main combustion chamber is not heated. |
