<p>1375207 Polymerizing 2-pyrrolidone ALRAC CORP 2 Sept 1971 [3 Sept 1970] 22089/74 Divided out of 1375206 Heading C3A A process for producing polymers of 2- pyrrolidone comprises adding to a mixture of 2-pyrrolidone and an alkaline polymerization catalyst apreformed adduct of CO 2 and an alkali metal or quaternary ammonium salt of 2- pyrrolidone or of caprolactam and then effecting polymerization in the presence of the catalyst and adduct. Various suitable catalysts and other promoters which optionally may be additionally used are listed. The claims of the present Specification are directed solely to the process while products which may be obtained by such process are claimed per se in Specification 1,375,206 in terms of a test for their meltspinnability.
