Welding device for welding two plastic sheets together includes a presser bar which is lowered manually to press the sheets against a heated anvil. A carriage, having a slot in which a blade is secured by a leaf spring, is slidable on an L-shaped rail defined on the presser bar and is formed with a U-shaped spring element arranged with its upper arm supported on the top of the rail. When the carriage is pressed downwardly so that the blade can cut the sheets against a support platform, the U-shaped spring element deforms. When the carriage is released it returns to an upper inoperative posn. under the restoring action of the U-shaped spring element. Pref. the carriage is moulded from synthetic material. The device is cheap and easy to operate. |
