<p>1461534 Refractory articles B COLTURRI 26 March 1974 [27 March 1973] 13251/74 Heading C1J A process for the production of manufactured items such as panels, moulded pipe insulators and high temperature insulating blocks comprises simultaneously mixing CaO and SiO 2 , in a molar ratio from 0À8 : 1 to 1À1 : 1À5, with reinforcement fibres in the desired proportions and with water in a quantity from 3-6 times the dry weight of these components, mixing until a homogeneous mixture is obtained, and introducing this mixture into a mould, introducing the mould into an apparatus under a saturated steam pressure of 8-15 atm. and at the corresponding temperatures for 8-15 hr. to obtain a hydrated calcium silicate, extracting the item from the mould and reducing it to the desired dimensions by cutting, and finally dehydrating the manufactured item. In the examples, the reinforcement fibres used are asbestos, or a mixture of asbestos and water. Part of the SiO 2 may be used as colloidal silica gel.</p> |
