<p>1414510 Improving stability of damaged ships KAWASAKI JUKOGYO KK 8 Nov 1972 [11 Nov 1971] 51576/72 Headings B7S and B7M A ship having a double-bottom tank D divided by transverse bulkheads has liquidtight trunk compartments PT 1 , PT 2 , PT 3 and PS 1 , PS 2 , PS 3 constructed along the transverse bulkheads B 2 , B 3 , B 4 and the outer hull at their junctions so as to reach at least nearly to the level of the fully loaded water line l-l. The trunk compartments communicate with the double bottom and the ship has wing tanks P 1 - P 4 , S 1 -S 4 in which a plurality of the trunk compartments are independently mounted. Serious damage on the ship's side will flood the double bottom and the trunk compartment on the other side of the ship thereby lowering the C.G. of the ship to increase stability.</p> |
