<p>The flexible sealing element has a central hole to match the pipe. One end is cone shaped, the other end is cylindrical and is separated from the cone end by a rectangular groove. The mounting plate has a conical recess and the valve body has circular recess to match their respective ends of the sealing element. When the valve end plate are brought together the seal is deformed by the material being forced into the rectangular groove thus allowing the valve to sit firmly on the surface of the mounting plate, without the risk of the seal being extruded between the surfaces.</p>
