The rail profile consists of two different sized U-shaped rails fused into one to enable it to be used for mounting both terminal blocks and electrical equipment, such as fuse arrays and switches. The smaller U-shaped rail is fromed symmetrically inside the larger U-shaped rail and the ends of the four parallel arms are folded outwards through 90 deg. to engage with suitable projections on the base of the terminal block or equipment unit. In another form the rail profile has only three parallel arms, the inner arm being displaced to one side so that the larger Y is formed on its right and the smaller U on its left.
