1482636 Fibrous materials ROCKWOOL AS 25 July 1974 [26 July 1973] 35626/73 Heading C3N A method of preparing fibre-reinforced products comprising inorganic fibres and a binder comprises admixing a binder with synthetic mineral fibres which have been subjected to a heat treatment at 550-900‹ C. for a period sufficient to enable the fibres to be uniformly distributed in the binder, and causing or allowing the binder to cure or set. By "heat treatment" is meant a treatment effected by reheating fully cooled fibres or by interrupting the cooling of newly produced fibres. Exemplified fibres are rock wool fibres, slag wool fibres, glass fibres and diabase fibres. The binder is preferably Portland cement or gypsum but other cements and organic binders such as polyesters, polyvinyl chloride and phenolic resins may be used. |
