434,287. Spring mountings. PYE RADIO, Ltd., and ROBINSON, T. A. W., Cambridge. May 4, 1934, No. 13542. [Class 108 (iii)] [See also Group XXV] A stay for a cabinet lid or the like a3 comprises a rod b pivoted to the lid at b and connected at its lower end to a spring s anchored in the cabinet, the arrangement being such that the axis of the rod passes through or near the anchorage of the spring. In the form shown, the spring is helical, anchored at one end to a plate c<1> and the rod passes through it. The rod also passes through a fixed guide plate a<5>, and has at its end a disc b<2> which bears against the side of the cabinet and may produce sufficient friction to hold the lid in any position ; alternatively a friction device may be associated with the plate a<5>. The lid may be held fully open by the disc b<2> resting on a stop c. The pivot bl is preferably universal, and by suitable choice of its position the force exerted by the spring may be arranged to correspond to the force exerted by the weight of the lid in any position. |
