<p>The display panel comprises a plastics or rigid cardboard backing sheet (10), on which the electro-luminescent cells (11) are mounted, by locating them in respective apertures in a support film (12) applied to the sheet, and in which the supply leads for each cell (11) are embedded. An opaque mask (13) is laed over the backing sheet (10) and support film (12), with apertures (14) or transparent sections which overlie the lectro-luminescent cells (11) so that selectively energised cells (11) are visible through the mask (13). Pref. the whole assembly is overlaid by a thin protective coating (15) of cellulose or plastics and having a similar colour to that cells (11) which are not energised, so that these are disguised.</p> |
