1388914 Fluid-pressure accumulators J H MERCIER 22 Feb 1972 [4 March 1971] 8174/72 Heading F1D A fluid-pressure accumulator 10 comprises a flexible bladder 15 having two parts 15a, 15b joined by a bond zone 22 located obliquely of the bladder. To relieve the stresses on this zone 22, the bladder has a stress-relieving zone 23 which comprises a reduced thickness mid-point 24 produced by gradual thinning of the bladder 15 from each end of zone 23. The width C of the stressrelieving zone 23 must be at least equal to the width A of the bond zone 22 while the distance separating the zones must be less than twice the width of the bond zone. An alternative embodiment is also described, Figs.2 and 3 (not shown) in which the bond zone joins the bladder to a closure member for a fluid part of the accumulator. |
