<p>The snap ring has an opening formed by cutting away part of a full ring, and also has flat bases adjacent its free ends. The base surfaces have protrusions out of the plane of the ring which a parts cut out of the bases. These raised parts are radiused in approximately circular arcs, and hook parts are formed between the cut out raised parts the base for receiving the nipples of snap ring pliers. The snap rings are in two basic forms, one for use on the outer circumference of a shaft, and the other for use inside a shaft hole.</p> |
