<p>The grapes are dropped in an opening at the top of a tank mounted on a trailer. The tank is divided horizontally into four compartments. In the top compartment, the grapes are fed by a worm to the opening of the second compartment in which twin rollers are mounted which squash the grapes without damaging the stems. From the rollers, the juices and squashed parts of the grapes fall into a third compartment where a second worm feeds the squashed parts and other dross to a spring loaded valve from where it drops via a shute on to the ground of the vineyard, while the juice filters into the bottom part of the tank.</p> |
