<p>The water is used as a transmission medium by immersing into it electrodes connected to each of the two signal outputs of the signal generator; the electrodes are so distributed, that the current generated in the generator represents, carries or contains the signals to be transmitted. When the intensity of the current is sufficient, it generates at the receiver position a magnetic or electric field, or electromagnetic waves, which can be separately or combined and utilised by the receiver for signal recovery. The system is used in the transmission and reception of very low frequency radio waves, which may be used for communication with a submerged submarine.</p> |
