Stackable chair has an integral seat and backrest carried by the frame with 2 lateral, rearward-inclined supports connected in the region of the side edge and having a reinforcement. The supports are straight over the whole length and run outside and parallel to the side edges of the backrest. The reinforcement is an inlay and the inner dimensions between the lateral supports in their region below the seat/backrest unit are larger than the lateral outer dimensions of the seat. Preferably the supports are tubular, and may have a flat or oval cross section with the larger dimension in the direction of the long axis of the chair. The chair is stable and of attractive appearance.
