PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF NEW CYCLIC KETALDERIVATIVES

1294678 Tropinone derived ketals EGYT GYOGYSZERVEGYESZETI GYAR 23 Dec 1969 [29 Dec 1968] 62712/69 Heading C2C Novel compounds of formula and their acid addition and quaternary salt wherein R is CH 3 or COOC 2 H 5 , X is H, CH 2 OHs or CH 2 OCOPh and n is 1 or 2, are prepared (a), when R is CH 3 by reacting tropinone or a salt thereof with HO-(CH 2 ) n -CH(X)-OH, (b) when R is COOC 2 H 5 , reacting the corresponding compound where R is CH 3 with chlorocarbonic acid ethyl ester and (c) when X is CH 2 OCOPh, by reacting the corresponding compound where X is CH 2 OH with benzoyl chloride. Therapeutic compositions acting on the central nervous system and having a tranquillizing action comprise the above novel compounds and a carrier.
