1432276 Extrusion SCHLOEMANN-SIEMAG AG 2 May 1974 [7 May 1973] 19361/74 Heading B3P A press such as a backward extrusion press has a ram 9 provided with a punch 12, a billet container 21 and a pair of stop members 13 disposed one on each side of the press axis to limit the forward stroke of the ram by cooperation with adjustable abutments 17. The abutments are engaged by respective wedges 19b, Fig. 3, operated by gearing from a hand wheel (18), Fig. 5 (not shown). The container 21 has a bottom closure plug 22 and can be moved axially of a container holder 14 by a piston-cylinder unit 25 for replacement. A support 28 on a three arm lever receives the container for removal. A billet 50 is loaded on to a dish 32 on the press axis by a lever 44 actuated hydraulically. After the backward extrusion the closed bottomed article 20 is stripped from the punch 12 by a stripper 55 and deposited on the dish 32. The dish 32 is mounted on a two-arm lever 35 with a roller (37), Fig. 5 (not shown), which is engaged by a plunger 38 to pivot the lever 35. The dish is thus tilted and the article is deposited on a dish 40 on the plunger for discharge. |
