A meter 10 is suitably provided to measure the sand concentration. The sand concentration may be controlled by regulating the supply of fresh water through the grid 4 and/or the discharge of de-salted sand from the bottom 9 of the bunker 3. The sand may be supplied to the bunker suspended in sea water, in which case the desalting water has a lower chloride content than the sea water, or in substantially dry form. |
