<p>The invention makes use of resinous materials for selective adsorption of heavy metals, the resinous material consisting of a condensation product of an aldehyde with at least one of thiourea, thiosemicarbazide or thiocarbazide, and opt. of a phenolic cpd. or an org. amine. Formaldehyde, paraldehyde, acetaldehyde are suitable aldehydes. Phenol, hydroquinone, resorcinol are suitable phenolic cpds. Aniline, toluidine, are suitable amines. Used in purification of industrial effluents by recovery of heavy metals including precious or rare metals e.g. Au, Ag, Pt, Hg, Pd, Mn.</p> |
