摘要 1404427 Artificial legs A L WEBER and L J WATKINS 22 Aug 1973 [30 Aug 1972] 39684/73 Heading A5R A pivot joint (10), Fig. 1, (not shown) for an artificial leg (12) comprises a bearing 18, first and second spaced apart joint segments 20, 22 abutting the bearing 18 which is located in a recess 24 in one segment 22, means for connecting the joint segments 20, 22 for movement relative to one another and a resilient sleeve 40 clamped around the joint segments 20, 22 by clamps 42, 44 for restoring the joint segments to a predetermined relationship following the application of a torsional force. The joint (10) connects leg portions 14, 16 so that it can absorb torsional forces without straining the stump of an amputee. The segments 20, 22 are. joined to the leg portions 14, 16 by pins 52 in holes 50, 54 in the segments 20, 22 and the leg portions 14, 16 respectively. The pins 52 may be secured by set screws in bores 56. Alternatively, a leg portion (62), Fig. 5, (not shown) has a tubular part 74 which fits in the recess 28 and is clamped therein by a jam nut (76), Fig. 6 (not shown) around a grooved end wall (72) of a joint segment (68), or by a clamp such as the clamps 42, 44. The joint segments 20, 22 may be joined by a nut and bolt connection.
