<p>A brush molding method and apparatus in which synthetic brush filaments within a mold cavity are held in place by an internally movable plug. The protruding ends of the synthetic brush filaments are heated and melted into a liquid mass in the mold cavity, and a brush handle is then inserted into the mold cavity, closing the mold and pressing the liquid into the desired shape, and at the same time fusing the filaments together to form a base for the brush and sealing the formed base to the handle. To mold a brush without a handle, a movable platen may be substituted for the handle.</p> |
